December President’s Letter

I wish you a happy holiday season!  Thank you for your support of AAUW.  If you are out shopping, please thank our AAUW advertisers for their support.

This December AAUW has 2 opportunities to celebrate.  On Friday Dec. 2, AAUW will be a cosponsor of a “Women in Leadership: Are we at the Tipping Point?” luncheon sponsored by Citizens League.  On Wednesday Dec. 14, Evening Rapport invites all AAUW members to join them for dinner at Prescotts.

If you would like to learn more about AAUW information available on the internet (web pages, Facebook, Twitter), there will be a learning session at 7:00PM on Wednesday Dec 7 in Library meeting room B.

AAUW is known for its research.  This November AAUW sponsored a new report “Crossing the Line: Sexual Harassment in the Schools.  Based on findings from a nationally representative survey conducted in May and June, 2011, this report presents the most comprehensive research to date on sexual harassment in grades 7-12 and reveals some sobering statistics about the prevalence of sexual harassment and the negative impact it
has on students’ education.  The entire report is available at

Thank you to Alice Laudon for organizing the Herberger’s community days.  We sold over 90 coupon books!  Based on member input at the October general meeting, AAUW will give a donation to the Rochester Regional Science Fair for operational expenses and to the library for 3 children’s books in a bag to be used by daycare centers, etc.

Remember that in Jan, Feb, March the general meeting will be the 3rd Saturday of the month.
