This year AAUW Rochester has been emphasizing the support of youth in our community. I had a very rewarding time helping students with computer research at the History Hullabaloo.
The Rochester Regional Science Fair will be held Feb 16-17 at RCTC Regional Sports Center. The theme for this year is “Water: Our Natural Resource”. AAUW is sponsoring a $100 award for an outstanding project by a middle school girl and a $100 award for an outstanding project by a senior high girl as well as donating $300 for science fair expenses. AAUW members are needed to judge for the AAUW awards Friday afternoon. You can also help judge Thursday evening or Friday morning. See
http://www.rochester.k12.mn.us for additional information.
The AAUW state convention is April 27-29 in Brainerd. We can nominate an outstanding young woman (high school or college level up through age 25). The nominee must have shown leadership in a specific action or event that reflects the AAUW Mission: “Advancing equity for women and girls though advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.”
Please contact me if you have a young woman to nominate by March 1. Additional convention information will be in the next issue of the AAUW Minnesota Pine.
Mark your calendars for our annual Education Luncheon on March 17 at Willow Creek Golf Course. Details will be in the next newsletter.
