The Rochester branch of AAUW was established in 1919. This has meant a long history of Women Empowering Women in Southern Minnesota. To bring this closer to the current decade, members of AAUW Rochester branch have participated in a variety of activities to encourage and support women in education, empowerment, and experience. It begins at our General meetings with speakers and programs to help members learn about current issues facing women and girls, as well as celebrate their successes and talents. Our branch has partnered with League of Women Voters to support women who are running for public office. Our members have given their time and resources to programs such as College is Possible, Herberger’s Community Days, and the regional science fair. AAUW Rochester branch has sponsored young women to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders. Our members have donated generously to silent auctions, used book sales and an annual Holiday Giving letter to support AAUW’s Legal Advocacy and Education Funds. All of this is part of the legacy of those charter members who began our branch 95 years ago.
